IWTP CUSTOMIZED TRAINING

The Incumbent Worker Training Program (IWTP) aims to support businesses and industries by enhancing the skills of existing employees, thereby boosting both employee productivity and company expansion. The anticipated outcomes of this program include the generation of new jobs, preservation of positions that might have otherwise been cut, and an increase in the wages for the employees who have undergone training.

 

The IWTP operates through a collaboration between the Louisiana Workforce Commission (LWC), various businesses and industries, and training providers. The program's funding comes from a special charge levied on employers, collected in conjunction with Unemployment Insurance (UI) tax contributions. These funds are used exclusively for training to benefit incumbent workers within industries or businesses in Louisiana that are subject to state unemployment tax liability. SBET CUSTOMIZED TRAINING

The Small Business Employee Training program (SBET) is crafted to support businesses and industries by enhancing the skills of current employees via individualized, standardized (off-the-shelf) training. After completing the training and submitting the necessary documentation to the Louisiana Workforce Commission (LWC), employers are reimbursed for the tuition and required textbooks and manuals. The training costs must not surpass $3,000 per trainee within the state's fiscal year (July 1-June 30). The funding for this initiative comes from the Incumbent Worker Training Account.
